Background:

ATP-binding cassette, sub-family A, member 1 (ABCA1) is a membrane associated protein that belongs to the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette transporters.  Members of the ABC sub-family A comprise the only major ABC subfamily found exclusively in multicellular eukaryotes.  ABCA1 plays a pivotal role in influencing intracellular cholesterol transport.  It binds to cholesterol and functions as an efflux pump in the cellular lipid removal pathway.  Mutations in this gene have been implicated with Tangier’s disease and familial high-density lipoprotein deficiency.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the C-terminal region of human ABCA1. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.
