Background:

Galectin-8 (LGALS8) is a cytoplasmic protein of the galectin family that contains 2 galectin domains. Galectins are beta-galactoside-binding lectins with conserved carbohydrate recognition domains. The galectins have been implicated in many essential functions including development, differentiation, cell-cell adhesion, cell-matrix interaction, growth regulation, apoptosis, and RNA splicing. LGALS8 exhibits a marked preference for 3'-O-sialylated and 3'-O-sulfated glycans, and is widely expressed in tumoral tissues and seems to be involved in integrin-like cell interactions. LGALS8 has recently been shown to act as a danger receptor in defence against intracellular pathogens.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the N-terminal region of human LGALS8. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.

WB: 1:1,000-1:3,000 (detect endogenous protein*)
