Background:

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase RING1, or RNF1, is of the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases that mediate monoubiquitination of 'Lys-119' of histone H2A, playing a central role in histone code and gene regulation. H2A 'Lys-119' ubiquitination plays a role in epigenetic transcriptional repression and X chromosome inactivation of female mammals. It is part of a Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1-like complex, which helps maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of many genes, including Hox genes, throughout development, through chromatin remodeling and modification of histones. Compared to RNF2/RING2, RNF1 does not have the main E3 ubiquitin ligase activity on histone H2A, and it may rather act as a modulator of RNF2/RING2 activity.

Other Names:

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase RING1, Polycomb complex protein RING1, RING1, RING finger protein 1, Really interesting new gene 1 protein

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the middle region of human RNF1. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN3. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.

Species Specificity:

Human, Mouse

Tested Applications:

WB: 1:1,000-1:3,000 (detect endogenous protein*)

*: The apparent protein size on WB may be different from the calculated M.W. due to modifications.
