vPair^TM antibodies represent a pair of fully characterized antibodies that recognize two different regions of a target protein. The product is developed by Abiocode to address whether the signal observed truly represents the protein of interest, an often encountered issue in antibody-based assays. The use of a pair of fully characterized vPair^TM antibodies in the same assay can validate signal specificity since vPair^TM antibodies recognize two independent epitopes of the same protein. Background:

Single-strand selective monofunctional uracil DNA glycosylase (SMUG1) is a protein that participates in base excision repair by removing uracil from single- and double-stranded DNA. SMUG1 is responsible for recognizing base lesions in the genome and initiating base excision DNA repair. SMUG1 acts as a monofunctional DNA glycosylase specific for uracil (U) residues in DNA and has a preference for single-stranded DNA substrates. The activity is greater against mismatches (U/G) than against matches (U/A). Many alternatively spliced transcript variants exist for this gene.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with GST-fusion proteins containing either the middle region of human SMUG1 [SMUG1 (M) (R1615-1)] or the N-terminal region of mouse SMUG1 [SMUG1 (N) (R1615-4)]. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
