Background:

ACO1 is an iron sensor. ACO1 binds a 4Fe-4S cluster and functions as aconitase when cellular iron levels are high. ACO1 functions as mRNA binding protein that regulates uptake, sequestration and utilization of iron when cellular iron levels are low. ACO1 binds to iron-responsive elements (IRES) in target mRNA species when iron levels are low. Binding of a 4Fe-4S cluster precludes RNA binding.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing N-terminal region of human ACO1. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
