Background:

The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process that is triggered by factors that recognize transcriptional enhancer sites in DNA. These factors work with co-activators to direct transcriptional initiation by the RNA polymerase II apparatus. Mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 23 (MED23) is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex, which, along with TFIID, is required for efficient activation by SP1. MED23 is also a component of other multi-subunit complexes, such as thyroid hormone receptor-(TR-) associated proteins, which interact with TR and facilitate TR function on DNA templates in conjunction with initiation factors and cofactors. MED23 also acts as a metastasis suppressor.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the N-terminal region of human MED23. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
