Background:

Wingless-type MMTV integration site family, member 5A (Wnt5A) is a ligand for members of the frizzled family of seven transmembrane receptors. Wnt5A can activate or inhibit canonical Wnt signaling, depending on receptor context. Wnt5A activates beta-catenin in the presence of FZD4 signaling. In contrast, In the presence of ROR2, Wnt5A inhibits the canonical Wnt pathway by promoting beta-catenin degradation through a GSK3-independent pathway. Wnt5A promotes chondrogenesis by the suppression of the canonical pathway. Wnt5A may act as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting proliferation, migration, invasiveness and clonogenicity of carcinoma cells. Defects in WNT5A are the cause of Robinow syndrome autosomal dominant (DRS).

Source and Purity:

Mouse monoclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the C-terminal region of human Wnt5A. Antibodies were purified by Caprylic Acid- Ammonium Sulfate precipitation. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 40% Glycerol, 0.02% Thimerosal. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
