Background:

Retinol-binding protein 4, plasma (RBP4) belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol in the blood.  It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues.  In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin, thus preventing its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli.  A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein posttranslationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the C-terminal region of human RBP4.  Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
