Background:

Protein argonaute-3 (AGO3) is also known as Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2C 3 (EIF2C3), which is required for RNA-mediated gene silencing (RNAi). AGO3 binds to short RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and represses the translation of mRNAs which are complementary to them. AGO3 lacks endonuclease activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNAs.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the N-terminal region of human AGO3. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.
