Background:

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase MDM2 is a target gene of the tumor suppressor p53. MDM2 is a nuclear phosphoprotein that binds and inhibits the transcriptional activity of p53 as part of an autoregulatory negative feedback loop. Overexpression of MDM2 results in excessive inactivation of p53, diminishing its tumor suppressor function. MDM2 has E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, which targets p53 for proteasomal degradation. MDM2 also affects the cell cycle, apoptosis and tumorigenesis through interactions with other proteins, including retinoblastoma 1 and ribosomal protein L5. More than 40 different alternatively spliced transcript variants of MDM2 have been isolated from both tumor and normal tissues.

Other Names:

E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase MDM2, Double minute 2 protein, Hdm2, Oncoprotein Mdm2, p53-binding protein Mdm2

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the middle region of human MDM2. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN3. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.

Species Specificity:

Human

Tested Applications:

WB: 1:1,000-1:3,000 (detect endogenous protein*)

*: The apparent protein size on WB may be different from the calculated M.W. due to modifications.
