Background:

SUV39H2 is a histone methyltransferase that specifically trimethylates ‘Lys-9’ of histone H3.  It achieves this by using monomethylated ‘Lys-9’ as a substrate.  H3 ‘Lys-9’ trimethylation is a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression.  SUV39H2 primarily functions in heterochromatin regions where it plays a pivotal role in the establishment of constitutive heterochromatin at pericentric and telomere regions.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the N-terminal region of human SUV39H2. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.
