Background:

Retinoblastoma-associated protein (Rb) is a tumor suppressor and a key regulator of entry into cell division. RB1 acts as a transcription repressor of E2F1 target genes. The hypophosphorylated, active form of RB1 interacts with E2F1 and represses its transcription activity, leading to cell cycle arrest. RB1 is directly involved in heterochromatin formation by maintaining overall chromatin structure and, in particular, that of constitutive heterochromatin by stabilizing histone methylation. When it is time for a cell to enter S phase, complexes of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) and cyclins phosphorylate RB1 and inhibit its activity.

Source and Purity:

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the C-terminal region of human RB1. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen. 

Storage Buffer and Condition:

Supplied in 1 x PBS (pH 7.4), 100 ug/ml BSA, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% NaN₃. Store at -20 °C. Stable for 6 months from date of receipt.
